Hi,
Just for fun what is your top 2014 fund pick for growth.
Personally I still think UK Smaller companies will continue to grow well in 2014 as the UK economy strengthens and think that Fidelity UK Smaller Companies is the pick of the crop.
What is yours?

Yes agree with UK smaller company. Let's hope it will perform similarly to 2013 if not better
Also Japan funds, but i've picked Legg Mason Japan Equity instead of the smaller company just to be on the safe side.
Also I'm interested to hear your thoughts on emerging market funds.0 -

Soft-closed at the moment otherwise I'd invest as I agree UK smaller companies have a way to go. Looking at similar funds from other providers...0 -
Global Resources and EM.I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.

Any specific resources funds or trusts gadget? I mentioned Blackrock Commodities Income Investment Trust on another thread, which I notice was up nearly 4% today last time I looked.0

Yes I'd agree, just effectively rebalancing I suppose given they've had a bit of a kicking recently.
Still no guarantees as they could still suffer from the us winding down quantitative easing which will no doubt continue.0 -

I've been looking with interest at blackrock world mining IT recently, might take a small punt in my income portfolio in the new year. Yields look decent and the potential for capital gain longer term is appealing.'We don't need to be smarter than the rest; we need to be more disciplined than the rest.' - WB0

Blackrock World Mining is on a discount but less than historical, unless I'm reading it wrong. If you're OK with open ended then I also hold First State Global Resources in an old S&S ISA that I haven't yet converted to passive.
For EM I mainly use the Vanguard Tracker but I also hold Scottish Oriental Smaller Companies (SST), Templeton Emerging, and Henderson Far East Income. I mainly picked up the ITs on big dscounts and all but TEM have done fairly well.bigadaj wrote:Yes I'd agree, just effectively rebalancing I suppose

Is the UK economy strengthening?
Or are we being mesmerized by rising house prices and debt fueled consumer Christmas spending?“It is difficult to get a man to understand something, when his salary depends on his not understanding it.” --Upton Sinclair0 -

Good challenge. Well my portfolio (which is heavily UK biased) has gained significantly in 2013 so the money markets seem to agree?0
