a good decision from the government.
  • Well, I was one of the 'tweeters' after MSE's call to arms, and although the decision to put this off till 2015 smells of god-knows-what under the table dealing by Osborne, at least it's one less thing I have to carry on being angry about with this government...

Let's chalk it up as a victory and move on  (and trust that MSE will keep an eye on them in case they try to renege! ;))
    challenges : AFD : SNC :
    Ebay/ Amazon : £29 + £6 +

You must have been a bit unlucky with your investment choice and timing. Ours is up 35% in the 3 years it has been going and the growth figure would be much higher if it were not for us keeping on adding new money to it.

Agreed - prompted by a fund change letter, I have just logged on to my children's F&C CTF's. Both increased by over 30% in the past 12 months. Over the term of the CTF we have just about doubled what we have invested.
  • I didn't realise you could change anything at all about the CTF once it had been invested, how do I go about doing this?

If you mean that you wish to transfer to JISA, see post 16 above.

If you mean that you wish to switch providers etc see https://www.gov.uk/child-trust-funds/overview under "managing the account".
  • okay...i was under the impression that the government voucher had been revoked????? does this mean that i am wrong and my daughter still has £250 kicking around somewhere ????????

If she was issued the voucher the money exists.

If you didn't invest it for her, somebody else did.

she is ten..i found a link to HMRC last night and completed a form to locate the funds, fingers crossed they will be able to help
I was actually looking for advice on the best junior isa when i got involved in this thread...I am bit miffed to find that I cannot open an isa for my daughters other funds (not ctf voucher) as she apparently HAS to pay it in to the ctf as a top up????????
at practically NO interest this is NOT what we want to do for her.
