Used car dealers - you've no rights, we can sell any s**t we want to, just pay out for repairs, don't even go to trading standards, we're quoting them, trust us, we're you're best mate, honest. Rest of the real world - yes, it actually has to actually work beyond the gates with the rabid dog locked in at night.
Trading Standards will do NOTHING to intervene if there is a dispute between a customer and a trader. Only if a trader is breaking the law will they get involved - clocking cars, misdescribing cars, etc, etc.0 -
Ha Ha! Four posts on the run, quoting us both twice! Quantity, not quality must be your trademark. Trust me, I can b*llsh*t all day? What is this, dodgy dealers unite?0

Seems like motorguy is giving some decent advice on the differences between wear and tear and failures, and how the SOFA may not be the most relevant legislation to quote in this case.
Certainly a lot more quality in his posts than your hysterical hyperbole.0 -

True. You on the SOFA with motorguy isn't really relevant.0 -

I wasn't baulking so much at the cost, its more the fact of buying a car, you dont then expect it to be undrivable in just over a month.
The trouble is, you have bought an old car. There is a finite time when a component will fail. You just happen to own the car at the precise time that a component did fail. It's just the luck of the draw.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -

Safe to say everything else in my post was bang on the money though, eh?

Yeah because they were both that wrong, they needed quoting twice.
I got out of motor trading because to be very honest i was aiming for quality and quantity and not being greedy and its very hard to do all that and make a decent profit overall.
Much more money back being an IT Specialist.
You have your opinions on the subject, i have mine. Yours dont seem to be based on any sort of referenceable facts, whereas mine are, along with actual experience of dealing with the SOGA day in day out.
However the only place to get a true legal interpretation of a particular scenario is in a court of law.0 -

So, we agree then. Word of an (ex) used car dealer, (trust me guv, it's a fact, honest, I said so, and I've been dragged over the coals every day, so I've experience) or a court of law then.0 -

Out of curiosity, why are you having a go at me here - my very first post on this thread i saidmotorguy wrote:
"I would say though if you pushed it under the SOGA you would be in the right, but you might have to take it to court to find out...."
You've got to the point whereby your posts are about "scoring points" - so, can you let us all know why you think we're all wrong in what we're saying, and back that up with reference to the SOGA. If you havent read it already, heres the link.
