Air builds up in the radiator within 2-3 days

Hi guys,

In the new house I have moved in to, some of the radiators have air building up within 2-3 days.

From doing my research one suggestion is it could be radiator sludge causing it, what do you think?

How much would it cost to fix the radiators so no air builds up so quickly?

  • (carefully) light the air that escapes. If it burns it's hydrogen and your system needs to have inhibitor added

If it doesn't burn then it's air, and air is being drawn into the system somewhere. If it's a vented system then it may be pumping over into the header tank in the loft.
A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.

If you have a closed system, you could fit an auto-bleed device to the radiators. Aladdin ones are about ten pounds.

This won't fix the cause of course, but should hide the symptoms.
