Cancel extended warranty?

I bought a used car yesterday, and in the excitement and as part of the bargaining I opted to extend the default 3 months warranty that was offered to a 12 months extended warranty for £190 - which at the time seemed a good idea as I was going to buy my own warranty anyway..
Since getting home however and reading the small print, its a pretty rubbish warranty - max £500 per claim, its an Audi A6 i have bought and not much comes to less than £500! I wanted the warranty to protect me against something big, i.e gearbox / turbo etc..
The company that the warranty was bought from (albeit through the garage) have no website for customers only an 0800 number.
I just wondered what my rights are with regards to getting my money back?
I paid for it on my credit card, but it was all on the same transaction as the car.
Any suggestions?
Ideally, id like to cancel this one and take out my own which actually covers me for something useful!
Thanks for any suggestions.

I don't know for certain, but I would expect there to be a 14-day cooling off period during which you can cancel:

In the first instance, just phone the 0800 number and ask.0 -
You need to seek advice PDQ. You signed for it at the dealer's premises so Distance Selling Regs probably won't apply.
Try phoning the Citizens Advice Bureau.
Or you could try telling the garage they have sold you an unsuitable product and you expect a refund."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -
Im not a motor trader but helped at my dads mate garage for few mths 2 yrs ago to help him out, by law any car sold with tax or mot an not trade sale only will come with a 6mths warranty anyway, this is from the trading standards mouth he works close with them alot as they send customers to him as hes a well known trader . you could allways contact the t/standards an ask them yourself. dealers allways try to sell the warranty is a money spinner . cars come with 3mths they say but you could upgrade to 9mths or 12 etc. t4m0

I think you must be referring to protection under the Sale of Goods Act, rather than an actual warranty?0
