Transferring music onto tablet

I have a 8gb samsung tab 2 that i bought to take backpacking with me. So far it has pretty much been stuck in its box but i want to start preparing by putting my music onto it ready for the long flight.

What is the best way for me to put the music on? Im hoping to copy some of my cds onto the tablet as well as downloading new music but ideally would like it all stored in same place and so i can access it without the need for going online.

I was thinking about using cloud storage but from what i can gather you need to connect to the internet to listen to the music then?

Final question....can any music that i download from google play be copied to cd easily?

Sorry for what may seem like basic questions but im not tec savvy at all!

As far as am aware, you can just transfer music from your computer onto a micro SD card and then stick the card into the tablet.

NB - if your music is just on CD then you will have to transfer them onto your computer first.

  • The simplest way is to connect it to your PC using the supplied USB cable.
The Tab will show up in My Computer as a disk drive, you can then just plonk all your mp3's straight into the music folder.

There are other ways using the Samsung Kies software but it depends how technical you want to get about it.

As its only 8gb and you cannot store apps on the SD card on this model, then I would be looking at storing things like music, films, photos etc on an SD card rather than the device itself, particularly if you are looking at a large amount of content - I have a not particularly large music collection and I have just checked and its 10gb, that way you can leave the internal memory for your apps.

edit - I have just checked and my collection is 224 albums, so maybe not so small....

You can use the free app ES File Explorer to move files between the internal storage and the SD card on the Tab 2. I have set mine up with all my music and photos on the sd card
  • Thanks, the sd card option might be best so i don't have to worry about running out of room on my tablet.
I have just bought a new phone (motorola moto g 8gb) and want to put some music on it so i can listen at the gym etc, it doesn't seem to have a memory card slot so do you think its worth using cloud storage such as google play? I struggle with mobile internet connection where i live so need an option where i can listen to music offline.

    Google Play Music .
Upload your music then download what you want when you have a connection or can grab wifi like out and about .
