So will it be visible once the unit is fitted into place? If not then I'd be tempted to negotiate a discount. Aim for 20% with a minimum of 10%.

10-20% is not enough to compensate for that dent to be honest. I want a full replacement of the fridge. The thing with the discount is that quite often they say that if they discount the price then it will not refundable. It mean that if anything goes wrong later on you can not bring it back and be given refund.

What I worry is that if I go with Hotpoint arrangements and they come here and find that 9 digis reg. number they wanted and just replace the door.
I think I still have to call Argos and hear what they say.

What I forgot is to ask if I can use the fridge until replacement.

Regardless the retailer MUST offer a remedy (repair, replace, refund) that does not significantly inconvenience the consumer.

Personally I would say that being without a fridge (especially at this time of year) would be a significant inconvenience, so unless they can replace the item imminently then I think (in my opinion) it would be reasonable for you to use it. However whether they agree with that or not is another question...

OP may struggle to say they cant be a few days without a fridge given they went 5 days without even opening it.

As always, will likely be dependent on circumstances.

My advice - stop talking to Hotpoint, deal only with Argos. Use the fridge over Christmas but don't mention it, turn it off and dry it down before it's collected.

I have highlighted the relevant parts...

...I am just wondering why on Earth they were so insisting in that 9 digit fridge registration number...

Because that is the policy of Hotpoint

    So deal with ARGOS

Why have you not called ARGOS again to find out what is happening?
My advice - stop talking to Hotpoint, deal only with Argos.

    Exactly...

I really don't understand your reluctance to call ARGOS ??

By dealing with both parties you are clearly muddying the waters.

OP - once again for clarity:-

CALL ARGOS - advise them again, politely, that as discussed previously, the fridge is damaged and they (ARGOS) have already stated that they will replace it. Ask them (ARGOS) to make arrangements to deliver a new fridge** and remove the damaged item at the same time.

It does not matter that you cannot find the 9 digit code, it does not matter what the Hotpoint policy is, it does not matter what Hotpoint are telling you....

** - I can only assume that Argos get the manufacturer to deliver direct to the customer - but this is NOT your problem to sort out - it is an Argos problem.
