Reconnecting your electric supply - E On

Options
Hi all

Not for me but I need to find out how long it takes to do this assuming the suppler doesn't need to install a pre-payment meter?

The account has been arrears for a long time and finally the supply has been disconnected!

Cheers

  • It will never be reconnected without a PPM I would imagine

Depends on man power, time of appointment requested and other factors but within 6 days
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

Might not need a PPM if the arrears are paid in full and a suitable deposit given.
You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'
  • Depends where it has been disconnected.

If it's the fuse pulled and sealed then it's a fairly quick job.

If it's been disconnected outside the premises then it will need pavement dug up (assuming buried supply cable) and that takes longer to arrange.

This work will be done by the distribution network operator (DNO) and then the meter operator will come and fit a meter.
A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.

They also can take the meters, which a lot now do to stop a fuse been borrowed and put in.

As others have said you need to be clear about the status of the supply.
Disconnected equals main cable cut in the street and you would need to pay the DNO to install a new supply. This can take weeks/months (depending on permits) and will cost £00s or even £000s.
De-energised - main fuse removed and optionally meter. Simple, cheap job for suppliers agent to put a fuse in and possibly install a new meter.

    Hi mortgageboyuk

As others have said, this very much depends on the circumstances involved.

We've a specialist Reconnections Team who look after this type of situation. I'd have a chat to these guys. They'll be able to advise based on the details on the actual account.

Hope this points you in the right direction.
