Replacement extractor fan will not switch off!

Hi
Just bought a replacement extractor fan for our ensuite and wired it up exactly as per the one it was replacing with the intention that the light switch would turn the fan on and off. It has four wires in and three out (the fan is not earthed so the earth wire coming in is not used - the other wires that it has is Neutral, Live and Live 1). All seemed to work ok but new fan did not turn off after 6 minutes like the old one (or a couple of hours..). It turns out the replacement that I have bought is only the basic one so does not have a timer (Greenwood SR100). So I now want the light switch to turn the fan on and off at the same time that the light turns on and off - I have removed the L1 wire from the chic bloc but the fan just stays on indefinitely until I pull out the fuse next to the light switch.
Current wiring is neutral to neutral, live to live and then the earth and L1 are not connected to anything...
Any help appreciated :-)
Regards
Robson

I guess you need to swap the lives around.
It should not need two lives unless it has a timer though.
If there is a timer adjustment, make sure it's low.0 -

Wrap a piece of insulation tape around the insulation of the switched live core to indicate to other that its a sw/Live.0
