Budapest Break

I have been told that Budapest is a great place to go for a short 3 day break. I am looking to go May/June with my wife for a break then. As I have not been before I would welcome any advice on transfers, where to stay, what to do, what to see, in fact anything that would help me on a first time visit. We are both a young 60, but don't want late nightclubs. Local bars are fine for a few evening drinks. Thank you in advance for any help you can give me

Budapest is a lovely City. I lived there for 4 years, but have not been back for a while.

There is a train into town from Terminal 1 at the airport - but you have to get a bus there as you will probably be arriving into Terminal 2 and they are a long way apart. There are also shuttle buses and fix priced taxis - and if you are adventurous, you can get a bus to the end of the metro line and go into town from there.

    Things to see:
    -Castle district
    -Szechenyi baths
    -Chain Bridge
    -Opera
    -Danube Cruise
    -Statue Park

If you fancy a slap up meal, then Gundel restaurant is famous for Hungarian food and has a great setting in the City park.

As a young 60+ I can recommend this pub

Don't be put off by the name.

    Have a great time
