Does anyone know, if it's ok to call up lenders and ask them for their index valuation for houses that you may be interested in purchasing, even though you may not have a mortgage with them.
I am wondering whether in addition to looking at zoopla for sold prices you can access and use this information on making offers for properties ?

Most of the time, they will not be able to answer, nor know where to look.
The best thing you can do is look here;-

and look for the recent (less than 120 days) sold prices of similar property in the area (0.5 miles or less) as these are the "comparables" surveyors use.I am a mortgage broker.
