How do you reset a bespoke computer?

Hi everyone
Does anyone know how to reset computer that was made for my son?
I don't know what he has done or what he needs to do, but he is driving me nuts:mad: he used to chat to his pals on Skype but they have moved to something else and he can't get his to work. He thinks if he undoes some things then he can load what he needs. Problem is though, there is not a factory setting.
What should he do?

What's the operating system?
What is the "something else" he's trying to use now instead of Skype?
Maybe a system restore will put it back where it was before, if it is set to create restore points. But he'll then still need to install the new software.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. Did you get any disks with it. May need to re-install the operating system to do a "factory reset". Of course you'd lose data and everything he's previously installed. As mentioned above, system restore if possible, it's less dramatic . . .0

Windows 7 is the operating system. He doesn't have any disks.
He says he fixed the other thing, the chat thing. Sorry I am so rubbish at explaining.
I think he just wants to clean things up a bit to be honestGrocery Challenge M: £450/£425.08 A: £400/£.May -£400/£361 June £380/£230 (pages 18 & 27 explain)0 -

Reinstalling the OS is NOT the way to go unless you are prepared to start from scratch, can remember (or have saved) all your websites and logons etc.
A dose of using the ununstall option in control panel\programs and features might help if he has lots of stupid toolbars etc added.
But be careful and google each one before uninstalling to see if its needed.0 -
