Hello everyone. Welcome to the Weekly Spend Challenge. This challenge is open to anybody, no matter what financial place they are in. Everyone is welcome here.

On this thread please post an amount of money you wish to stay below within the week (Sunday to end of working day on Friday). This can be pennies or thousands it depends on the individual. Then next Saturday report back and pledge for the following week. The challenge runs from Sunday to Friday so we don't include Saturdays but feel free to change the rules to suit you and include Saturdays or start on a different day.

Feel free to update this thread with daily spends if that keeps you on track. We colour code the results as below:

Green - within budget
Red - over budget
Purple - zero spend
Orange - made money over the week

This is a little bit of fun but for many it highlights the fact that maybe that magazine/chocolate bar isn't needed. Hopefully your spending habits can be changed forever.

Moozie was the founder of this challenge and here is a quote taken from her:

The challenge is about incidental spending and not for stuff that should be budgeted elsewhere such as bills, groceries, debt repayment etc but you decide what to include at the end - this is about changing your habits and improving your recording of your spends more than anything else. Have a great week everyone and keep it low!!! Moozie x"

Good Luck Everyone

  • I was green last week with £1.99/£5.

Knowing that we're running until Friday 27th I'm really not sure how much to pledge ... Won't be spending on 25th ... and hopefully not on 26th (though am on taxi duty for a friend who has to work). I am unsure whether to skip off to visit boyfriend on 27th or 28th ... hmmm. An educated guess of £30 please ?
  • Can I join this please? :)
I pledge to spend £20 this week.
Wednesday will defo be a NSD for most people :)

Hi ETO - thank you for the new thread.

I think I'm going to go for £30 this week as I don't really need anything (famous last words:)).

    Hello ETO, regulars and newbies,

I just about managed a green week last week, finishing on £19/£20.

My only expected expense this week should be christmas drinks with friends tomorrow night so can you pop me down for the usual £10 please?

ETA: i'm currently lurking on this forum in an attempt to stay away from my n3xt VIP sale slot. I must be strong.

  • Thanks for the new thread ETO. I've been a bit AWOL as I got some very good news last week and have been over indulging myself. Back to earth with a bump now though, as it's 46 days between December and January payday :(

    Can I pledge £10.00 please?

Nothing I particularly want in the shops at the moment so should be able to manage it

Hi everyone. and welcome along cauliflower. :hello:

    First post updated to here.

I can't believe how busy I am at the moment. I just don't seem to stop. Hopefully I'll be back with you properly in the next week or two. I just keep feeling like I've forgotten something. I think we'll have a relaxing day on Xmas eve, if I haven't got 'it' by then, then we'll go without. It's not like the shops are shut for a week. Then ill enjoy a lazy Xmas day and Boxing Day. :D

And I'm staying away from the sales too. So hoping my £10 will be plenty.
