Do you have a diesel vehicle?

When it was new, was it fitted with a DPF?

Has the DPF been removed?

If the answers are YES, YES and YES, then, from February next year, your vehicle will fail the MOT.

The reason?

The MOT is being tightened, to require any diesel, which was factory fitted with a DPF, to have one installed at the MOT.

So, if your diesel had a DPF, but doesn't have one now, you had better get one fitted.

Except its a visual check. So you can still remove the internals. As long as it passes the smoke test.

Thankfully a cat removal isn't an MOT fail on a diesel yet.

The CAT wasn't a legal requirement. Just something the manufacturers used to help emissions. But the UK dont test diesel emissions. Only the smoke test.

I think you have a spurious NO in there.

    No it wont.

The vast majority of "DPF Removals" just take the DPF off, cut a hole in the opt of it, remove the guts, weld the plate back on and refit.

MR MOT man can only do a visual check, so as long as it passes the smoke test then no problem.

they also have to change the ECU settings, so this along with removal will invalidate your insurance

If they are declared to the insurance company, it won't.

Even if they aren't declared to the insurance company, they will still pay out to any third parties in the event of an accident.

So making your car illegal and declaring it is ok ? , removing a DPF is illegal so your insurance will be invalid , not much good if you have a life changing accident and get no payout
