Payment taken in error. Now overdrawn with impending bank charges.

Hi - I've posted the full original post in another forum as I thought it might be more relevant there, but I'd appreciate any advice from this one, too.

Basically, I've had a bank statement in the post this afternoon from what I thought was a empty and unused, albeit new, bank account.

The statement shows that a payment was taken from the account on the 2nd December from an organisation who had written to me saying they would NOT take a payment, sending me into overdraft and with further charges due to be taken out.

I'm planning to go into the bank on Monday morning to explain, and will pay in enough to clear the overdraft with additional to cover the charge if the bank still plans to enforce it, while I wait to see if I will ever get the original amount refunded.

But does anyone know whether something like this makes it onto a credit file?

I've been really careful during the last 6 years to NOT let anything like this happen and I'm really annoyed that it has behind my back, due to maladministration from the organisation in question!

Any advice would be really helpful. The thread with full details is in the child support forum (but I'm not allowed to post links because I'm a new user!).

Thanks in advance.
