Return Costs can they be refunded

Hi
I bought 2 silver pendants from notonthehighstreet 3 days ago. One of them was received the day after and the other today. When I opened them I was very disappointed with the quality and they were not how I expected them to be. I paid one of the sellers £2.75 for delivery and £1.75 for the other. I decided to return the items today. It cost me £12.44 to return the items, £6.22 to each seller. This is very expensive and the webpage didn't warn me. All the page gave was the return address. Do I have any rights to claim a refund of the costs incurred?
I didn't get the chance to cancel the items as they dispatched them straightaway.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks

I haven't checked, but I assume that you bought from businesses. If so then you have rights under the distance selling regulations. They have to refund the original postage to you. However if their terms and conditions say that you need to pay for return postage and they notified you of this fact by durable means (such as an email or delivery note), then you can't claim back the return postage costs unless the items are faulty or don't conform to the contract in some other way.0
