I'll be completely renovating a house in the new year and one of the many jobs will be installing quite a few new power sockets/drilling through walls for cables etc. I'm looking for some advice on which SDS drill to buy to make lighter work of it.
Presumably I'll want a corded one over cordless? I'm willing to pay up to around £150 for a quality piece of kit.
A few google searches brings up this;
http://www.screwfix.com/p/bosch-2kg-sds-plus-drill-gbh2000-240v/87453
Would this be suitable for my needs? I know the Bosch blue stuff is a good make but is the drill the right one. Looking at Bosch/Makita/Dewalt unless there's any others I've missed?
Cheers.

Get a box-sinker, makes that job so much easier and you can sell on when done. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V9MELQh5a-k
I've got a Dewalt traditional style SDS which is fine, it'll push a core-drill through engineering brick. But I think I'd go for one of the compact types to give better balance and the full rear-handle grip -

Thanks for the video clip. Now I understand how they work.
Even uses the Center hole for a rallplug. Very cleaver.0 -

We've just finished renovating a house the sds drill we used was from Lidl. Our builder was so impressed he bought one too it was £39.99 ! It coped really well with taking down walls and stripping concrete skirting boards !!!
Also have a look at screwfix.0 -
box sinkers make a lot of dust and effectiveness depends on your wall type.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0

Bought one of these last year http://www.screwfix.com/p/titan-ttb277sds-3-5kg-sds-plus-rotary-hammer-drill-230v/99935 ....very pleased with it
Core drilled 120mm hole through Accrington brick, no problem.
The Bosch SDS looks good. A lot lighter but less powerful. Whichever one you get make sure it has a safety clutch. These drills can break fingers, or pull you off a ladder, if the bit jams in the wall :eek:No longer trainee

Bosch all the way for SDS drills, you go onto any building site and you will always find a Bosch SDS drill.
I have had my 24v Bosch SDS for 15 years and it has never faulted. You may click thanks if you found my advice useful0 -
            2 features to look for:
- ROTOSTOP, or similar, it lets you use the hammer action without the bit rotating so you can use it to drive chisels, scrapers, box-sinkers etc.
- safety clutch. So that if the drill bit digs in, the clutch will let go, otherwise with a powerful drill, if the big snags it can pull the drill out your hands, spin around and clock you one.0
