Wellers Auction

Hiya,

I was just wondering if you guys know how this website operates in terms of delivery...

I had a look online in its T&Cs and it says:

Wellers do not offer Packaging and Shipping as a service – see below for local shipping agents
AS OF 1ST OCTOBER 2012 WELLERS WILL ONLY RELEASE GOODS BOUGHT AT AUCTION TO TWO COURIERS:
1)Mail Boxes Etc. Weybridge

Do you guys know how this works? After I win an auction, do I phone Mailboxes etc. and ask them to pick up the parcel and then send it to me? Any ideas how much it will cost or if there is a guide? I can't find it anywhere

I would have thought the price depended on what you have purchased and where you are in relation to the auction house, also the value of the item for insurance purchases. A £5 watch will presumably be less to send than a £5000 wardrobe.

You'll need to ask the couriers for guide prices based on an item you are considering purchasing.

I'd ring the auctioneers. If they are a decent auctioneers they will be able to guide you. I once was interested in an item from a auctioneers and they were very helpful but had their own packing service.

Don't forget you will need to pay for the item and have payment cleared before they will release the item. Normally they will only accept bank transfer and you need to make sure they have the payment and processed it before the courier arrives otherwise they will not release the item.

I recently bought a small piece of porcelain from an auction via the sale room.com site. hammer price was £25, total price plus VAT and sale room.com commission was a little under £32. I had an email immediately after auction end from a courier via the sale room.com site to say they would deliver it for a total price of £40.

I only buy from auctions though where I can collect so trundled down next day and picked it up and paid just under £32 all in.

  • Hi,

Depending on what you are bidding on, I would try and send my own stamped address envelope through the post to them, and then usually will just pop it back to you. That's what I do, as mailboxes charge a minimum of £35-£40 just to send the item to you by Special Delivery, which currently cost £6.22 under 100 grams.
  • Thanks guys - I guess I will need to leave that auction house alone then. Too far for me to drive from scotland unfortunately haha. I guess unless I by a lot

Maybe, but they would have to go the PO for SD so may well say no. I imagine that they deal with two couriers who give them a percentage and makes life simple for them.
  • Has anyone tried to use someone from shiply for delivering these things ?
