yeah me too! but to me it doesn't matter what you have to 'eat'.......its the 'ambience' that makes it romantic.
whether its a 'picnic' on the rug in front of the fire or setting the table nicely, and having nice music playing, candles (gotta have candles), and devoting your whole interest to your partner - that's romantic!
my oh wouldn't care if it was egg and chips (one of his faves - but if I really want to treat him, his fave meal is sausage and mash with onion gravy - you should see his eyes light up!)0 -

I would do spaghetti Bolognese sprinkled with parmesan cheese, served with a good bottle of red wine, then followed by eton mess which is crushed meringues , whipped cream, raspberries. Layer it in a tall wine glass which makes it look posh then tope with the whipped cream and grate some white chocolate over-easy pudding to make.0

I always do my hubby's fav for a romantic evening.
A good old piece if steak from our butchers, hm chips, onion rings with salad or veg?
Then a golden syrup sponge n custard for afters.
