I think sharing fish and chips out of paper is dead romantic.

yeah me too! but to me it doesn't matter what you have to 'eat'.......its the 'ambience' that makes it romantic.
whether its a 'picnic' on the rug in front of the fire or setting the table nicely, and having nice music playing, candles (gotta have candles), and devoting your whole interest to your partner - that's romantic!
my oh wouldn't care if it was egg and chips (one of his faves - but if I really want to treat him, his fave meal is sausage and mash with onion gravy - you should see his eyes light up!)

I would do spaghetti Bolognese sprinkled with parmesan cheese, served with a good bottle of red wine, then followed by eton mess which is crushed meringues , whipped cream, raspberries. Layer it in a tall wine glass which makes it look posh then tope with the whipped cream and grate some white chocolate over-easy pudding to make.
  • I always do my hubby's fav for a romantic evening.
A good old piece if steak from our butchers, hm chips, onion rings with salad or veg?
Then a golden syrup sponge n custard for afters.

A few candles and a bottle of wine with a film afterwards.
