Hi Guys
I have been looking at the different options of getting my WII connected to use online.
Any advice which is best?
I don't have a wireless connection, have broadband, and my PC is over 6ft away from where my Wii and TV are (totally different rooms)
so is my only option the Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector? which creates wireless
I know there is the LAN but this as the 6ft cable
Help

The Wii is wireless enabled, your best option would be to buy a wireless router, rather than messing about with a half-hearted wireless connection that will require your PC to be on, get a proper solution more and more things are going to be wireless enabled in the future so its worth the investment and actually not that much anymore.
which type of broadband do you have? cable or a bt phone line?0 -
Hi there
I connect mine through my Belkin wireless modem/router. No problems at all and I would agree it's the easiest option for you.

I have Virgin media broadband
this does go over my head about the router thing, any ideas where I can find out more?0 -
A router is a device that manages network traffic.
In simple terms it allows you to connect multiple devices to a network connection like a broadband link and share it.
Your current setup is a cable modem (blue box) or a TV set top box connected to your PC. what you do is connect a wireless router to the modem/cable box then connect the pc to the router either by a network cable or wirelessly. there is some configuration of the router required but it is basically setting the name and security key (password) so that only people that know the key can use your connection.
I have installed loads of different routers both cable and BT and there isnt huge amounts of difference between them in the terms of setting them up. some have improved signals so you can use them in houses with thick walls but there is always a limit any barrier in the way of the signal will reduce it but the distance your talking shouldnt matter unless you have lead walls.
I have used a few of these, one of these, one of these and one of these for the price the edimax was brilliant and in a normall sized house the signal was fine in all the rooms.
There is loads of advice and people that know about wireless on here if you have a search you will see other opinions.0
