Debt recovery demand for parking charge

I recieved a letter at my address in October 2013 of a company called Euro care parks and a fine of 60 pound says I drove into the car park and my total stay was for 2 hours and 10 minutes and I'm only allowed 2 hours. and it had one pics one off my car number plait , after reading many forums I decided to ignore it. In November I received another letter saying I now owe 100 pound. I was a bit nervous but decided to ignore it. Any way were now in December and I have now received a letter from debt recovery plus limited saying I now owe 150 or i could get bailiffs at my address or court proceeding. Natural I'm nervous about this. Iv gave no response at all to these letters. I'm just looking for some professional advice or somebody who has gone through it to advise me what to do.
I have heard there taking people to court at the moment if they do will I have to pay court costs?

If you want professional advice, go and spend a fortune on it at a solicitors office. If you want advice from people who have seen this tens of thousands of times, it's below.

If this is England or Wales then you should have appealed to the scammers, if rejected then used popla to get it cancelled. Basically you've missed the boat unless the registered keeper wasn't driving.

In terms of going to court, well Euro has taken 2 people to court that out of almost a 100k fake tickets issued. And DR+ have not taken a single person there in a year. So what does that tell you??

Your choices are either to continue to ignore or enrich the scammers extravagant lifestyles by paying, I know what I would do. By the way the next people who will write is Zenith Collections, they are DR+ pretending to be someone else. They will offer a discount to pay at some point.

When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
We don't need the following to help you.
Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.

It's never too late to complain to the retailer/landowner to get the ticket cancelled.

Should you be unlucky enough to receive a solicitors letter or letter before action from Euro then do come back for further advice.

You're simply experiencing the 'Threatogram' chain. Just two more to go from Debt Recovery Plus and that will be an end to it.

    Merry Xmas!

No idea why you would have ignored this as that's not been the current advice for most of 2013. But ECP are not known for court.

  • Hello

I am in the same situation as Sid1978. Received a PCN in October from Euro Car Park to pay £30, then another PCN to pay the full amount £70 and in December I received a letter from Debt Recovery Plus demanduing payment £130.

The advice from Stroma looks good and strong.

Sid 1978 or someone else: What course of action would you take?

As an aside, somebody new to this forum asks you for information - you spend time and effort doing your research, getting the wording right, and - surprise surprise - they haven't even got the manners to thank you for your efforts. Invariably, it's galling because usually they cannot be bothered to do any research for themselves, otherwise they wouldn't keep asking the same questions.

the first course of action is to start your own thread and not hijack this one

the next thing to do is read the NEWBIES sticky thread by coupon-mad

No offence caused at all - but on a parking ticket forum we need a 'one case one thread' rule as every set of dates/details is different. So do start a new thread on page one if you need to ask a question after reading the sticky threads.

The 'Private Parking Ticket? Newbies please read this first!' thread is on page one and answers all the usual FAQs, has a section about debt collectors and gives you links to Debt Recovery Plus letters. And then there's 'PPC letter chains' as another sticky thread (read BOTH links on it as the old pre-Oct 2012 one is better, has more letter chain pictures that still work). My signature below (not the red bit) tells newbies how to find page one of this forum - one click away. Sticky threads 'stuck' at the top.

Also you could just search the forum for the single keyword 'Recovery' using the 'search this forum' heading above the sticky threads, next to 'forum tools'. The search facility on MSE works well and you would be reading until 2015(!) seeing as tedious old DRP and Zenith letters are posted about EVERY day from people who haven't read the sticky info that's already here on the forum.

Having said all that, if you do need help after reading the stickies and want us to check over any response letter you are planning to send (if you are not wishing to ignore and collect the letter chain) please do start that new thread.

Most of us say you should really only respond if you get an actual 'Letter before County Court Claim' from the PPC themselves - and guess what, there's a 'sticky thread' all about responding to a LBCCC as well!
