  • Why restrict yourself to Amazon?

I've heard good things about Beurer Monogram. However I prefer overblankets.

Tip: avoid dreamland because they are junk with horrible cuts out features which means calling their 0870 in order to find out how to re-activate the blanket.

Virtually every electric blanket I've had over many years (including my current overblanket) has been Dreamland. I can honestly say I've never had a problem with any of them.

My current blanket is on its second year of use and I haven't ever had to phone Dreamland. It's washable (has been washed a couple of times), light and warms up very, very quickly.

I also have a Dreamland which has been working fine.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I have been given £15 Amazon gift card as a present so I want to stick with amazon. I found this one as beeing a popular one. What do you think? Will it be cheap to run? Please see the link http://www.amazon.co.uk/Single-Size-Underblanket-Deluxe-Settings/dp/B002SJ3NAK/ref=sr_1_2?s=drugstore&ie=UTF8&qid=1387223636&sr=1-2&keywords=electric+blanket+single

Well, it does have plenty of good reviews, but to be honest I remain convinced that when it comes to electricals you at least stick with a Brand name that you recognise.

They are an importer of goods, not manufacturers, and why on earth would they feel it necessary to have this disclaimer on their website?

It does indicate to me at least that the source of their goods is rather doubtful.

Call me an old cynic but .............

Personally, I'd be looking at this one http://www.amazon.co.uk/Morphy-Richards-75183-Washable-Underblanket/dp/B0052WHHFW/ref=sr_1_9?s=drugstore&ie=UTF8&qid=1387711762&sr=1-9&keywords=single+electric+blanket

I just wondered about why you only wanted to use Amazon. It wasn't a criticism or anything. I buy stuff online and get cashback@TopCashBack(TCB) and then use the earnings @TCB and get very slightly more in exchange for Amazon vouchers which I use towards purchases. That works fairly well for me.

There is a risk with using electric blankets which is why there are safety features to prevent overheating and the risk of a fire. However in my experience they over do it by a wide margin and make the electric blankets so underpowered that they need to be on for many hours to get the bed to a nice warm/hot comfort level....if you go to bed with cold feet then don't expect many of them to get your bed warm enough to heat them up!

The thing about the Dreamland is that they don't say much about the safety cut out. I reckon that they hope that it stops working and you think that it has failed and buy another one. It's only by phoning the expensive 0870 helpline that you can find out how to reset the blanket and get it working again. That is why I would not recommend them to anyone. It's a very dubious business tactic IMO.

My current one is a Slumberland heated mattress topper. It does the job but I'm not that keen on it. At least it doesn't turn off after a couple of hours like some of the blankets do now. That I would find very annoying because I never know when I am going to hit the sack.

With Underblankets you might find the wires uncomfortable so be aware of that. A thicker padded type should reduce that but an Overblanket for me the is the best type because it covers the whole bed right up to the edges so no cold spots and there are no wires beneath you.

I bought two Slumberland ones from Aldi; the first did not work at all and the second was just tepid, so I had a refund. (It was very tiny, anyway, not reaching far down the bed). Because of this, I would be wary of buying from the internet, in case I had to waste money on return P&P.

The OP has an Amazon voucher. If buying from Amazon and there are any problems then returns/exchanges are easy enough, and she will not have to pay to return it if it is faulty.

Seems it's a bit hit and miss with Dreamland then.
Mine gets used in Winter months, we're on our second Winter since buying and so far so good.

It's also good to compare the ratings it got from Amazon as well as people here.
