I am still considering switching banks away from RBS, will probably leave it now till xmas and the new year are out of the way. Anyway with regard to the 7 day switching, i actually get paid weekly my wages land in my account on a thursday so what day would you start the switching process?

You do know that credits are automatically routed to the new account when you're using the 7-day switch process?
But bearing in mind it's 7 working days, when do you think the switch completion date should be?0 -
It shouldn't matter.
You could choose to do a partial switch in that the old account will not be closed but then it would be up to you to update your employer with your new account details.0 -

To get the benefits of the 7 day switching service, the original account must be closed, so if you don't want to close the original account you have to move payments yourself as well as notify any creditors. You will not get the automated direction service either.0 -
The whole point about the guaranteed switcher service is that you don't have to worry about DDs and incoming payments going wrong. The guarantee says you will not lose out in any way.
Having said this, probably the least convenient time to use that guaranteed switcher service is over Xmas and New Year. There's a good chance that neither the banks nor yourself are reliably firing on all cylinders, so why not leave it until after Jan 1 2014?0 -
