will shortly be completely re-decorating a 2 bed maisonette from top to bottom, including bathroom and kitchen. Are there any websites that have loads of pictures of design ideas?
basically i want to look at hundreds of different rooms to get some ideas.. looking for the contemporary/modern look
or any magazines?
cheers

Hi there,
Take a look around some of the show home/apartments on new developments. These are usually bang up to date with contemporary design. Be up front with the sales advisor, stating that you are looking for decorating ideas, and they won't give you the hard sell.
I frequently do this and remember to take a digital camera.
A lot of the big developers will also have, virtual tours on their web sites. Persimon and Westbury definatley do.
Good luck

... i think they have feature you can download that allows you to try out different colours on photographs of rooms.
It helped me to decorate my sitting room.
I got my wall / ceiling / coving combination from the site.
I think there are other sites on the net.
Also, try looking for a colour wheel in any paint shops, these show which colours go with other colours, good for getting ideas.0 -
In Tescos last week, I saw some a series of books (little pocket size ones) called (I think!) 100 Bedroom Designs, 100 Bathroom Designs etc. They featured all colour schemes and styles. They were on sale for £3.97. Looked good, I stood and read them for a good ten mins

Hi Glenbat,
My advice to you is keep it neutral. I have just redecorated all the way through the house and it looks fab. I've gone for a cream carpet for hall stairs and gallery landing aswell as all three bedrooms , When it's all the same the rooms appear much larger and it gives a real designer feel. The bedrooms are all painted in Dulux Magnolia (country Cream) when anyone asks. One bedroom is Chocolate brown and cream stuff, one is Lilacs and the last room is turquoise.
When you go for this idea it saves loads of money because you will get a discount on the carpet and the fitting and you also get no waste as it is all used up.As for the painting and decorating when it's all the same colour you use up all the paint and no half tins left but don't worry about the samey look, it's not like that at all. When you add the colours for bedding and curtains and accesories this really breaks it up. make sure you use shades of the same colour like chocolates, coffees and beiges.
Mirrors are a big thing aswell they add loads of light especially if you use them on the wall opposite the window, and again make the rooms feel much bigger.
Another thing i have done is covered the bed bases in the same fabric as the curtains with a staple gun (simple) they all look like brand new beds. The head boards are made of MDF and covered with a contrasting fabric ( go for something expensive hear as you only use a small ammount and really give the WOW factor) and hung on the wall like a picture. These look fantastic , and you can make pictures like this aswell which are all the fashion at the moment and cost next to nothing .
After all this is what they do in the show homes and remember this sells houses.0
