  • rubber washers twist & splay out because people fit them in the wrong place, you should never fit a rubber washer on top of a nut because when the nut is tightened it will squash the rubber washer out of shape

yes the rubber washers should seal fine but i guess i like the belt & braces approach
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.
  • Thank you for all your responses. My apologies for the late reply. I have been monitoring the leak for a few days and it is still leaking albeit very slightly. It's a few drops a day, if that. Should I just get a new washer? I used the one that came with the kit and I have tightened the holding nut as far as it will go. (I don't want to go to far with tightening as I'm being careful to avoid cracking anything)

Have you redone it? Until you do and clean and dry it thoroughly it's not going to stop leaking anytime soon.
  • Apologies for taking so long to respond. I followed stooby's advice and emptied the the cistern and cleaned throughly around the area. I also cleaned the parts to make sure that there was nothing keeping the washers from making a seal. Then reassembled and it worked! No leaks! Thank you all for your advice and thank you stooby!
