Valuation delays

We had a valuation and HBR done on a property yesterday, the HBR was e-mailed through this morning, showing no defects and with a valuation of our offer price.

However the valuation hasn't been submitted to Nationwide yet, apparently it's sat in Countrywide (I know!) system waiting for the surveyor to "approve" it. What's annoying is today is his last day apparently and they therefore say it won't get to NW until after New Year!

I explained I wasn't happy but no one really seems bothered, my annoyance is our mortgage was approved pending valuation nearly 14 days ago, and we've had to wait for this valuation that now looks like adding even more time onto everything!

Is there anyone that can sort this out?

Hardly a matter of life or death. Many people take holidays at this time of the year. So delays are only to be expected.

So why is the HBR done but the valuation isn't, surely the HBR is a more complex document to produce?

I understand people take holidays, but this is the latest in a long line of delays caused by either stupidity or mis-management of staff.
  • You may be unrealistic to expect everthing to happen straight away.

I'm sure it's frustrating, but the HBR shows OK, am sure the valuation will, and you'll get the same mortgage offer in the new year as you would have done now.

I'd suggest relax over the holiday period, leave these lovely folk to have some R&R, and proceed with your purchase in the new year.

If there is a specific reason for your hurry, just let folk know. In reality, what difference is 2 or 3 working days going to make?

You do not seem to have been terribly forgiving in your assumption of stupidity or mis-management. Suggest a little tolerance
