Hiya
I've sold an item on gumtree to protect myself and the buyer, does anyone have an example type of receipt we can use for proof of purchase / payment?

Why do you need to protect yourself? Private sale they buy you forget deal done, caveat emptor applies.0

i thought I'd be best advised to jot a receipt that said person a purchased item x, sold as seen for blah price paid in full in cash, 2 copies signed by both parties.
this is what has always happened when purchasing a car privately from a free adds or similar.0 -

When was the last time you signed a receipt in a store or asked for someone with authority to sign on behalf of a major corporation like Tesco to sign it?
What are you trying to do? If you are trying to prevent any comeback then simply take a copy of your advert and make sure you are clear on that of what you are selling, private sale, secondhand item etc0 -

but in a store you get a reciept as proof of purchase.
Yeah prevent any come back.
It's something I've been asked before as a buyer. a receipt signed by me and the seller.
this is the first time as a seller (usually use ebay) and just wanted to protect myself from come back as they aren't testing it, literally just sold as seen but the advert didnt state this the buyer said not to worry they trust us.
I thought there might be some sort of official way of selling like this, to protect the buyer and seller like ebay.0 -

But you said you want both parties to sign it which was the point I was responding to. If you are posting it what are you going to do if they never return the second one you sent to them to return to you?
For their proof of purchase you just need a piece of paper with your details, what you've sold, the price and thats it. No need for signatures on it. Its the advert that would be held up in any discussions that the item was not as described etc.0 -

I see that by signing both means I or they cant then change the receipt. I cant really change the printed till receipt the store gives me. but I could change a single copy of a typed/hand written one then who has the right version?
maybe i'm just seeing more in it.
I'm not really sure what mine or their rights are when selling/purchasing through gumtree.0 -
