Hello Yorkie2. you are obviously not familiar with travel to and from the Isle of Wight. When booking train tickets from the ticket office in Ryde we can include the cost of the CAT ferry to get to and from Portsmouth, so we got across the Solent to find that there were no trains running from Portsmouth Station. Same thing with return journey, problem there was land slip blocking the line between Haslemere and Petersfield.

You can also get a 'southern only' train from London Victoria to Portsmouth, might be quieter than going via Waterloo.
Yes, probably cheaper too. However it'll be much slower.

So you tried to travel from Ryde to Guildford, and got as far as Portsmouth, where you had to abandon your journey?

That's not quite the same as travelling from Portsmouth to Guildford, and not commencing the journey - if that had been the case, I would have said contact the issuing company.

In your case, it's South West Trains who need to sort it, and I am sure they will sort something out, they should at least compensate you to the value of the Portsmouth - Guildford portion of the journey, but they may be more generous than that.

It does not often be when fast paced just like you ended up being traveling within London, uk, however Waterloo so that you can Portsmouth As a result of Guildford expert services will be busier out of summit as compared with loads of alternative ways. More air . hVe a dilemma acquiring a hold while out of Waterloo.

A spambot which has been banned.

As for the difference in timings going via Southern, looking on National Rail, it takes 2h 4 minutes from Portsmouth Harbour to Victoria. SWT via Guildford takes 1h 36 (or 1h49), via Winchester it takes 2h 8.

So it depends how much the extra time is worth to you.

Hi again - re my application for refund for non travel over Christmas. Went to local ticket office, presented my unused tickets and voila! full refund, no questions asked. they even refunded the ferry fare - ferry is owned by Wightlink not SW trains - although of course we wouldn't have used the ferry ticket had we known there were no trains at Portsmouth but good of them anyway. Well done SW trains - thank you.

Which probably are employed by CP plus, a private parking company which gets confused and mixes up railway bylaws with the civil route. A company whom doesn't manage the car park, just tries to get as much revenue as possible.
Geordie's post was just a dig at me. I, by all accounts am not a parking warden....

I agree about CP Plus too, without digressing too much, in-house is the way to go...
