I have just changed broadband providers and am now with Sky. The equipment they provided me with is a Netgear DG834GT wireless router which I have connected up with wires at the moment.
When I click on 'Local area network' 'properties' it says 'Realtek RTL8139 Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC'. Any ideas why it shows as a completely different piece of equipment or am I getting confused with something different. My last router was a ZyXEL one so I don't think it's referring to any old equipment either
Thanks in advance for any thoughts

The Realtek is the name of your PC's network interface card.0

Thanks cledor, I guess it's normal to show those details instead of the router name then! I presumed it would show the name of the equipment I had connected, not quite sure what a network interface card is but I'm sure it's a good thing0

Yes it's normal to tell you what hardware you have inside your PC. It's telling you the make of your network interface card, not what's attached to it.
The Network interface card is the device you connect your router to when it's hard wired.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Network_cardIt's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -
You will only see the router name or SSID when connecting with wireless0
