O/S Daily Friday 20th December 2013 This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.
Good morning everyone :hello:
I'm up bright and early so I thought I'd start the daily thread. Just wantde to say Congratulations to TTFTM as you enjoy your first day of freedom, and I'm glad to hear that Tessa had a lovely birthday JackieO.
It's too dark to see what the weather is like but I'm sure it's going to rain at some point. I'm staying in on parcel duty this morning so I'm not even going to get dressed just have a PJ and duvet day
. It's been a bit crazy here with all the end of year things with school and church so it will be lovely to take a day off.
Hubby and girls are on their last day today....hooray, Christmas starts from this afternoon. I bought tickets to go and see a panto on Monday but my stupid anxiety won't let me go so my eldest DD is taking the girls in and I'm going to potter around the shops with my friend until it's over. I'm disappointed but maybe next year will be better. I'm certainly planning a do-over of myself (along with 99% of the general population)
but I am hoping to change not only my physical appearance but also my mental perspective on things so I shall be looking into a mindfulness course along with other stuff.
I hope everyone has a great day today especially all those who are breaking up from school or have their children back from uni. I can't believe it's only 5 sleeps till Santa
:D:D. Take care and as always, gentle hugs to all who would like one.
Cheers m'dears x

Morning everyone
Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x
Still very dark here, but looks a bit blustery.
DH up and getting ready for work.
Dinner last night was gammon, egg, onion sauce, mash/jacket potato, peas and mushrooms. Tonight will be something quick and easy just because it's Friday!
Was reasonably productive yesterday, got cracking with the washing and drying - still some washing and drying to do - but ironing hasn't even been started yet - so that's on today's "to do" list. Did manage to get housework done. Made a couple of phone calls and did some work on pc. Got most of the prezzies wrapped and labelled. Also emptied the normal waste bin into bags and took to the dump - had thrown all the food in the bin that had gone off because the fridge broke down and then we realised that that bin isn't going to be emptied until the Saturday between Xmas and New Year - and bearing in mind it's already gone off - not nice! So took it down to the local tip to get rid of it!
Will be heading into local town this morning, then to do food shopping, need to try to find DH an xmas prezzie! Haven't been able to find anything I think he would like so far! Need to get his parents voucher today. Will then be endeavouring to do all the other stuff on the list or the chores I need to do and haven't remembered to put on the list!
Have a great Friday everyone x
Keep safe and well x

How still we see thee lie!
Above thy deep and dreamless sleep
The silent stars go by;
Yet in thy dark streets shineth
The everlasting Light;
The hopes and fears of all the years
Are met in thee tonight :xmassmile[/FONT]

Morning All
Wet and windy here, I was woken at half 4 by the wind blowing hail against the window! Still, it's the last day of term and we finish half an hour early.
Made shopping lists last night, DD is off today and will go to Asd@, I will go to Ald! on Sunday probably and then I am not doing any shopping till the food is all gone!
Decided to stay home in our new house for Christmas, it's only DD and myself (DS2 in Cambodia, DS1 still doesn't speak to us). We have been invited to 5 different friends for christmas but don't want to offend anyone or travel far so decided to stay home. Just need to put the tree up now!
Gas fire was fixed yesterday, it was something that didn't work when we moved in so it has been paid for by the previous owners. It was enough to take the chill off last night so didn't bother with the heating. I have put it on this morning though to warm the house through.
Not much else to say, hope you all have a good Friday, take care. XX0 -
Good morning everyone
JackieO - I am so glad your DD Tessa and her family had a lovely day and your DGS Henry sounds like such a wonderful little boy.
Dumpling - Sorry about the panto but my DH is very interested in mindfulness and is considering becoming a practitioner. Please let me know what you think/how you get on.
My body clock is still on work time so have been up since usual time, have a load of washing in the machine and another basketful ready to go in. Next job is to sort out the dining table and chairs, which are covered in all of my work stuff.
Need to go into town today to pick up DD's order for GDD's iPAD and to pay a car tax refund cheque into the bank. I still have a few things to get but no idea what they are! It will all work out in the end, at least I have an excuse for being disorganised this year.
Still don't know what DD and GDD and friends are doing for Christmas, I wish someone would confirm this so I can sort out food but I know it's going to be a last minute decision, then probably will change again.
Something with mince for dinner and need to use up tomatoes and a pepper, think I can feel beef koftas in a sauce coming on.
Well wishes to all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need or just want them. Keep well, warm and safe and have a super dayLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

Good Morning everyone ,another dark start this morning wet and windy at the moment .I just had an email from my cousin in Australia and she says its cooling down to 30c at the moment and quite pleasant !!!!.Bless her she is coming over to the UK next year to Scotland so she will notice the drop I think
:)
Last day for the children they all break up this afternoon from school so this morning is the last school run for a fortnight:)
The boys are all very excited at the moment even Ben, who tries (unsuccessfully), to look cool and uninterested in all the Christmas hoo ha:) Bless him he is looking forward to the sales starting so he can buy some new clothes with his birthday cash.
I am eating from the fridge at the moment as I will be away from next Tuesday for a week at least so I want to use up all the bits and pieces in there.Last of the salad will be used up for lunch today.
I even managed to get all my ironing done and my wash basket is virtually empty so I think I'm quite organised at the moment .Just the sausage rolls to make on Christmas Eve morning for the two Dds houses and that's all done and dusted.cards have been sent ,presents wrapped and labelled. For once I shan't be rushing around like a headless chicken This year organisation has triumphed:):) for once
TTFTM Henry is a smashing little guy and so full of life .All of my Tessa's lads wake up full of the joys of spring bless them. They can be rather noisy at times but also great fun. What a relief for you now its all over ,you can really relax and enjoy life once more
Time to get a wriggle and the kettle on,
Have a good day folks whatever you are doing

Morning!
Today is not a day I've been looking forward to
I am doing the washing this morning, the DS is home at lunchtime, we them leave at 12.30pm, travel 45 minutes where I need to hit 4 shops, the drop DS at his dads, deliver a gift, travel a further 20 minutes deliver 2 more gifts have dinner at a friends, then stop on the way home to collect stuff from my mums. We are only planning 1,5hr stop at the friends, but won't be home until 8-8.30pm
It's just manic. But needs to be done.
So I've started the washing, but I'm back in bed feeding DD2 her bottle and I'm going to have a slow morning
Hope everyone has a great day xWe spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I don't and I'm happy! Mortgage Free Wannabe :dance:Overpayments Made: £5400 - Interest Saved: £11,550 - Months Saved: 240 -

Jackieo glad Tessa had a good day x
Off to work for me and dd this morning, only working the morning, then its off to the clients party for the afternoon, I think there is going to be a strictly come dancing style dance off which should be great fun !
Tonight its the OH's xmas do, which is the best night out of the year, its a load of builders and wags, and a buffet and drinkies, most people just wear jeans etc and its just a bloody good night, really looking forward to it.
As I said there is a buffet tonight so might just do us a pizza before we go, just so that we have had something to keep us going till the buffet.
have good days all and hugs to Jools xx0 -
Good morning everyone.
Up nice and early ready to do the last school run of the year, DH has broke up from work too so no alarm clock for the next 2 weeks... Heaven!
Quiet a busy day here today, I want to try and catch up with all the housework so I can spend a few days enjoying the build up to Christmas with my DS, so today will consist of lots of washing, drying and ironing, hoovering polishing and bed changing, also need to wrap the rest of the presents, make 2 "make and do" hampers up for my friends twins, hopefully manage to get all this done before 1:30 as its the schools christmas service in the church so don't want to miss that.
Tea tonight was meant to be fishpie but I forgot to get the fillets out the freezer so it will be jacket potato and gammon steak
Hope everyone has a lovely day...((hugs)) to those that need them xG.C July £21.09/£1000 -
Morning all,
I am going into school today so I made biscuits and cakes yesterday. My school bag is packed ready - not with piles of marking but nice things to eat. It's been a long 4 months.
DH painted the loo yesterday, it needs another coat but that won't take long.
Dinner is some of the lovely gammon quality bacon from the market, then we are off to the pantomime at the amateur theatre. Looking forward to it as they always do a good show.
Well, nearly time to make my way to poke the wage slaves
Have a good day!I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0
