    The problem is at this late stage, only very expensive ski holidays are left on the same dates. So it would cost us a lot of extra money to do that.

    Right - yes this was the motivation behind his complaint I think.

    I had slightly misunderstood the situation - I thought the company had admitted they miss-sold the holiday, but in fact an employee made this statement while the official response was (and still is) the company does not admit miss-selling and that they will only reinstate the holiday if the claim is retracted. So given they officially deny mis-selling, I don't think any sort of deal of a discount etc is possible.
