we had problems with being on the end of a long line, but moving to fibre has solved everything..for a price.
You need to look at your router stats to see what your line noise and attenuation are like.

    Nanny - I think I love you :)

I've had the same with TalkTalk. It's been a little shaky over the past couple of weeks, and when I got back late last night it was gone completely.

This morning it was still gone. What I did was switched everything off, including the little button on my router (don't know if that will apply to you though) and all the power plugs it connected to in any way.

Then I pushed every wire connection thing in as firmly as I could get it, both ends, so into the plugs, sockets, back of the TV, everything. When I switched it back on, abracadebra it worked - so far anyway.

So now I've read your post I don't know if that means it was 'me' or if it's a TalkTalk prob.

Be interested to hear from other TalkTalk users - especially perhaps any others 'oop north' as I see you're in Durham and I'm in East Yorkshire. Is that just a coincidence, I wonder.

Edit: found this: TalkTalk status check Not sure that anything shows that close to either of us, but perhaps worth bookmarking for another time - though would always have to get online to see it - duh!

  • I'm in the North West and also find Talk Talk a bit patchy sometimes. Desperate for fibre, but all they keep saying is it will be coming to us in the near future!

Also meant to add that I have a mobile with unlimited internet including tethering which is a useful backup seomtimes.

Our Talk Talk router was 3 years old. It's RUBBISH. But, it's the only one who provide to our area at a reasonable price.

I know a bit about the connective issues and customer services told me what to do, having already done it, they still wouldn't listen.

Told them my router stopped working and they updated it to a new one.

It's not AS good, but at least the wireless reaches upstairs now.

Have you thought about getting one of the boosters? Also, if you're on their cheaper rate, they cut you off to give priority to the 'more important higher-rate paying' customers. (which I really dislike)

  • Is it definitely the internet? When you say it's "not responding," that's usually a windows/program issue - does the browser you're using state "Not Responding" in the bar across the top?

(Sorry, I work in IT, so I'm naturally questioning haha!)
Back to comping after a 3-year hiatus :j

OMG, don't say 'sorry' I'm sure nanny would feel same as me, just grateful.

For me it was definitely the Internet. My computer showed no connection. In fact it didn't even show the right TalkTalk model for the router when searching. Also I tried on our desktop too and that also showed no connection to the Internet.

So far (and definitely touching wood) it's been fine since tinkering first thing this morning. But I'm not counting on it.

I have decided that in my next life I'm coming back as one of the Flintstones. Preferably Pebbles :D

    Ahhhhhhhh

that sounds much more like an browser problem/windows.

    Have you updated lately?

Try changing your web browser, I only say this as the ones at uni used to 'not respond' all the time, they were windows PC and had IE and were the most frustrating thing EVER!

It doesn't sound like an internet problem as it's the whole thing not responding, and not just the web page not loading.
