National DAB radio stations not in my area!

There are a couple of national DAB radio stations I can only listen via the stations' websites. I have looked on the website and they state the stations are only available to people living in certain cities.

Is there anywhere that lists what stations are coming to my area in the future or can suggest they broadcast DAB in my area?

  • At the risk of stating the obvious, it doesn't sound like they are national on DAB.

Because London has 3 local muxes as against the 1 that most other areas have there are more stations in London than elsewhere.

The local muxes outside London often have similar stations so there are some "quasi national" services (perhaps versioned with local adverts).

    Great site that.

Doesn't tell me if I can get BBC Hereford & Worcs, but does tell me I can get BBC Radio Manchester!

Well, rather bizarrely, here on the Shrop/Staff/Chesh borders it doesn't say that I can get *any* BBC channels ... but I can!
We can get R Manc and Key 103 from 50 (?) miles away but cannot get R Shrops from 20 miles away.

I did ask about it, but got told summat to do with too many 'posh folks' in Cheshire and them not wanting to be poisoned by rural Shropshire nonsense :p;) :rotfl:

Distance is not the main factor-it's topography. So if there's a big hill (or even a big bock of flats) between you and the Shropshire transmitter or relay, you won't get that signal.
My MIL is barely 500 metres from a relay station. but she's aligned to another 20 miles away, because she is under a hill on which the relay is sited.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
