I once went to an informal job interview (in a pub) dressed informally.

The agency who set it up were horrified and I didn't get the job!

Thank you. How would you suggest preparing for an informal chat about a job then ? Do you still have to relate paat experience and all that kind of thing ?

If that's what they're after, yes.

Whether formal or informal, it's worth remembering that an interview is simply a discussion between two people about a problem one of them (employer) has, to see how well the prospective employee will solve that problem for them.

What I mean to say is don't think of it as some adversarial "you vs. them" thing, but rather the first of what will hopefully be a number of occasions where you work together with someone towards the same goal.

Me neither, most informal interview I had was Sports Direct or the coffee shop but they still asked interview style questions

Reading on internet some people have said they went for informal chats that were still kind of proper interviews, just in a more relaxed setting.

Do you think even though I don't have a guaranteed interview on Monday yet that I should ask my advisor tomorrow for some advice on preparation for an informal chat/interview ?

Oh come on just use some common sense! Formal or informal it is still an interview. Should be pretty straightforward fir the job you have described
