I've just had to do a complete factory reset on the Freesat box today. It started to play up last night. When we tried to select programmes for recording everything was selected for the 19th of Jan no matter what day the listing was for. A full factory reset today, as advised a couple of years ago by Humax, has rectified the problem.

I don't know how long ago it's been since we last did it but I know this is the longest interval between resets. It also shows that this problem is still inherent in the platform.

That's the same box as me then. Mine's been rock solid. Only other thing I can suggest is perhaps reception issues. FreeVIEW boxes are known to get completely confused when there's poor reception - all these boxes get their time and programme information this way after all. Can you check the signal condition, and maybe your wiring and satellite dish if it's poor?

Reception on the Freesat is perfect. I've checked the inputs. The dish and wiring were installed professionally with the box when it was bought. This strange issue has been happening since the box was new however so I'd rule any faults out on that basis. It's definitely a problem with the platform and it's one shared by many others as the Humax customer website shows.

Odd that you don't get it though?

I have more issues that way with our Freeview box in the bedroom. Even though an engineer has told me the signal is fair belting into the antenna we do have reception problems but only on those channels we get from the Black Mountain. We're lucky to have most of them duplicated by Saorview and we have very little problem with those.

I'm using a redundant Sky dish for Freesat. It has a single LNB and cable, means that if a channel is being watched, we can't record another. Is it easy to change the LNB for a dual LNB, and are there local suppliers?

As well as changing the LNB you will have to use dual cable(shotgun) to the receiver

It is seen as an easy job and won't take very long or cost very much. Ballyblack knows more about this sort of thing that I do but my guess is around £50-£60 for the job. I would imagine any aerial installer can do it.

I've got a good man for you. Here's his website http://www.cbmsolutions.co.uk/ I can promise you that his prices are very reasonable and he is a lovely man to have in your home. He's done several jobs for us and I'd never go past him if I needed any other work doing which he could cover.

GlynD - you use yours more heavily than me so you'll find more problems I guess. When I say platform, I mean Freesat. I think you're saying it's a problem with our Model of Freesat box, the Humax Foxsat HDR. I don't have any of the issues with my particular unit. It's certainly not a problem that affects every model of Freesat box. When you say the signal is perfect, are you checking this in the service menu? And you know I presume that weather can have a big effect on it?
Ticked - LNB - easy peasy, as long as you can reach it. It's just clipped into the dish. But as advised, if you want that extra signal, you'll need an extra cable all the way from the dish to the TV - That could be the hard part depending on your house. If you do do it, consider a quad (4 outputs) LNB (duals aren't really that popular) and run the 2 extra cables into the roofspace, or somewhere indoors, which will make it far easier to hook them up if you ever need them.

Thanks Guys! GlynD, hiring someone would be a last resort for me but the contact may well be useful to someone. Almillar, no problem reaching the dish, and no hassle to run new cable. The advantage of a bungalow. Appreciate your quad tip, that's good forward thinking. Cheers!

OK Ticked, another tip, which I think was already mentioned above - instead of adding another single cable, REPLACE the current single cable with shotgun cable. This is 2 cables in 1, and is far smaller, easier to fit and manouvre, than 2 separate ones.
