Unable to uninstall old version of Calibre

I just installed the latest version of Calibre (1.15.0). But it was not able to automatically uninstall the old version (v.0.9.31).
Went to add or remove programs. Attempted to remove old version and got pop-up "The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disc that is not available. Insert the Calibre disc and click okay."
I've only ever installed directly from the web, so no idea what the disc is it refers to. I notice that this version doesn't have the usual pile of books Calibre icon, but a windows icon of computer screen and disc.
I've clicked on the support information link, clicked on repair, but then get the same CD-ROM pop-up as before.
Been to program files on C-drive and there is only one set of Calibre files, shown as today's date.
Has anyone had this problem before, or has any idea how to resolve it? It's not a huge problem, just annoying and a waste of 321MB on my hard drive.
Thanks guys.

That's certainly a bit strange, I've never had to manually uninstall previous versions of Calibre when installing a new one.
Have you tried asking in the Calibre section on the Mobile Read forum? Worth a try as it's effectively where official support is provided by Kovid Goyal, plus there's also about a gazillion people with a very good knowledge of the ins and outs of Calibre on there tooNow free from the incompetence of vodafail0 -
I just installed the latest version of Calibre last night. Worked fine, and I didn't need to uninstall the previous version.0

Sounds like the old version is partly removed, so Windows own add/remove programs feature can't find the uninstaller.
Might be worth reinstalling the old version then removing it.0 -
Download and use Revo Uninstaller. This might solve the problem where windows cannot.0
