Love the knitted paper chain idea! I'm a crochet girl at heart and have a hugeeee wool stash which will be getting used up this year! xxMFW Sept 2013 Starting balance: £101160.59 25 years

Kola, I'd love to be able to crochet, I haven't done it for years (& even then it was only the most basic of basics). I'd love to be able to make granny square blankets.
We had a lovely walk out in the countryside today, saw so many little chaffinches, siskins, nuthatches and coal tits out by the woods, lovely. Popped into the visitor centre (will allow Mr M a visit to the gift shop, I suppose!), they were giving away free calendars so that was a nifty freebie. Then into the nearby farm shop (it was charming, so can put up with that), picked up some super cheap but amazing quality local bacon, some mince and pork burgers (came to about £8 but will do several meals). Also got a massive wad of delish goats cheese for £3. We did some meal planning when we got home and it looks like we're more than sorted for the next couple of weeks what with our freezer stash, with only a few minimal spends on veg on the cards. :T
We were invited up to the inlaws for a roast dinner with all the trimmings this evening (yum), and came away with a massive box of Ferrero Rocher, pringles, winter spiced biscuits, lasagne sauces and all sorts of other bits they donated to us. :j Mr M's mum had found the Ferrero Rocher's going for 90p! The pringles were 9p or something mad like that. Nice one. :money:
Haven't really done much else, looked through some of Mr M's stuff that is being stored up at his parents and looks like we have a few double DVDs lurking about so I'll look into whether or not it's worth trying to get some pennies for the extras. Got back in time to whack some laundry on and watch Sherlock :smileyhea (so good this week!).
I totally missed the £125 cashback for opening a FD account on Martin's email. Many thanks to FamilyLife for mentioning it on her diary, am so glad I didn't get it sorted before nowAn extra £25, yay!
Haven't done bread, must do that tomorrow, and some more baking if I can, we're sadly lacking munchable cakey treats.a penny picker upper. The day hasn't started amazingly well, Mr M found out that a potential new job isn't on the cards after all (very sad as it was in a place we would both liked to have lived as there are lots of my friends and family there), so now we're just waiting to hear back from one other place unless something else pops up in the meantime. It's becoming quite a weary road, I'd just like to know where we are going to be for a few years instead of constantly being on edge.
Ah well, I suppose things tend to work out for the best so need to keep the faith etc!
I feel a list for the rest of today coming on...- Laundry
- Make bread
- Work stuff that'll help me feel more in control of destiny again!
- Start plotting the veg/garden stuff
- Process FD

Sorry the OHs work plans didn't pan out. I'm sure whatever happens will be for the best, you really do have to keep the faith about these things. I waited for a permanent job for years, doing maternity cover contracts all over the country and can honestly say the permanent job I now have is the best job I've ever had. I'm also really happy with the area I've settled down in, never having even considered it before. Luckily my sister lives 20 minutes away but that wasn't planned at all.
Let me know how you get on with the garden. I want to plant some veg when we get into the new house (like you I love roasted root veg so eat a lot of it), I'm not sure I'll be doing a lot of planting this year but I'd like to have a plan!
Ooh, also could you refer me to one poll? I've heard about it but not looked into it! Thank you

It's hard not knowing Pearla. I've been through this so often I really feel for you. Hang in there - thing will sort themselves out and then you'll forget you were ever worried.Mortgage (original/ current):193,000 (23/09/11)/ £102,500 (07/11/2019)

Thank you FL & mouche! You're so right, things will get there in the end, I just need to look on the bright side and remember it's all an adventure! It was great to hear your stories, all my own work is up and down and all over the place as well so it's nice to remember that eventually things can settle down
I've not eaten any breakfast or lunch yet, oops. Felt quite jittery before, I hadn't really worked myself up into thinking that this job thing would work out as it was a bit of a long shot and I didn't want to get my hopes up about going back to being near friends but I think it's the fact that the people told him that it was a no go for a particular reason that actually they could have mentioned at the start about two months ago! It's so irksome to string people along like that, there was truly no reason for it, and of course you can't help but use (or in this case, waste) some of your time hoping that things would work out.
In happier news I'm ploughing on with work, despite the last thing I did yet again displayed that totally waste of time companies seem to like to develop for people these days, argh! Anyway, tis done now, whew. Just taking a little break to finally get some luncheon!
Oh, and laundry done, FD processed, 1Poll surveys done and found both a 5p and a 2p kicking around which have been decanted into my piggingbank! Apr!s lunch - make bread and more worrrrrk.
FL - have messaged your re: 1Poll& shall keep you updated on the veg plans. I only have a balcony (eek) but it's amazing how much you can grow on there quite easily

Keep going PM it will work itself out eventually but sending you a hug in the mean time
Just a point to consider, if you don't like the fd account and change to another provider they give you an additional £100.

Thanks LGP & newgirly
LGP, I just noticed that about FD when I signed up and thought 'ooh! £200!' but I suppose I shouldn't get too excited in case I really like the account. :rotfl: Handy to know though
Well yesterday continued on a bit blah. Got lots done before I crashed out so will polish off the rest of that today. I never seem to be able to stop myself working like a demon on Mondays and then Tuesday comes round and I'm knackered so have to go at a more leisurely pace (no bad thing!). I woke up hideously early this morn so I'll do a bit more work later and try and sandwich in some exercise and more relaxing tasks over the course of the day.
Yesterday Mr M also decided that the other possible job isn't worth pursuing (some more information came to light, and I have to agree - who wants to do something that you're not adequately paid for?). The silver lining of all this means we won't be going anywhere for the next few months at least, so I don't feel so bad taking on work that I might have had to let go of quickly otherwise. Hey ho, onwards and upwards.
Handily Mr M is testing the phone signal on a new network with his old phone today (he's thinking of switching), handily it's the same phone as mine so if it works ok then I'll probably switch too and save myself a couple of quid a month. Might not do it for a month or so though - there was such a faff last time I tried to move my phone number and I've probably got enough to be getting on with currently than deal with that as well. Plus no cashback right now so I might do some more research/wait and see if cashback pops up over the next few weeks.a penny picker upper.
