I bought DH this for Christmas. Never had a tablet before but thought it would be good for him to watch footie, download films, surf the net etc. Have manageds so far to get him a book from kindle. I have no IT knowledge whatsoever and many of the terms that are flung about are greek to me:) Can manage to use my own netbook for what I need but dont do films, games etc.
Have tried to get some films but need Flash player, thought I had downloaded it but when he went to watch a film didnt work:(
Could anyone give me an idea how to help him get films. There are film in Playstore you can rent or buy, is this the only way to get them? Someone said Youtube but can't see full length films. Sorry for my ignorance but don't know who to ask. Most people we know have ipads and iplayer lets them get millions of stuff. Wish I'd known earlier that he couldnt watch tv or see films, doh.
Many thanks

Android 4.4 does not support flash.
However their are ways round it.

The Nexus has a Youtube app which you can use to watch YouTube videos.
It also has a Movies app called "Play Movies & TV" you can rent or buy movies and TV shows.
You can also see what movies and TV shows you can buy in the "Play Store" app.
They have a few TV shows for free today and normal prices are around average £2- £4 for TV/Movie rentals
and around £10 to buy movies but they have sales all the time.
You can get players for other downloaded movies. Personally I like "MX Player" they also have a version of "VLC" for the android.
If you have a new Nexus (or updated an old one to 4.4) Google have taken out the ability to play Flash movies in the browser entirely even if you download flash player.Laters

Flash still works in Firefox browser on 4.4 (as it did on 4.3) when flash player is installed. It never worked (for me) in any other browser I tried, on 4.3 never mind 4.4.0
