Hb and child bank account

Hi, wondering if anyone knows the answer please ........During the Xmas holidays, I plan to get my child to open a bank account.

This way family and friends can give him money as presents for birthday and Xmas( he is 14) and I can pay his pocket money in it.(£20 per month)

Account will be solely in his name, but I think I have to sign to say I agree to it. He will have internet banking and a debit card all in his name. I will have no access to it.

I can't see it as ever having savings, as he spends his money as soon as he gets it, and will probably never have more than about £250 in it.

Do I need to advise housing of this new bank account?
