nPower estimates
Options
Finally got confirmation of my switch to nPower and I'm puzzled by their estimates. Their electricity estimate is about double what I believe it should be and their gas estimate is just ridiculously low.
How easy would it be to change the debit order once it's up and running? Or is there something I can do in the meantime to get it updated? It's just that the direct debit will be about half of what it should be and I don't want to be hit with a massive bill in a year's time.
The estimate is 1002kWh ANNUAL use for gas (three bed house with GCH) (used 16000 last year in a 2 bed) and 4001kWh annual use for electricity (2 people - we used 2352kWh over the last year and I just went on a big spending spree to put LED lights in everywhere, so that will come down).

I think you mean estimate 10,002kWh for gas? Your gas usage is very near average, your leccy is well under the average of 3,300kWh.
If they really have estimated your gas usage as 1,002kwh, then nPower's system is even more borked than we thought...No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
I've always told the leccy or gas supplier how much I use, rather than let them guess it.
I'm always within a couple of hundred kwh over the year - even last year when the winter was long & cold. Even so, they did faff about with the DD a couple of times during the year so now owe me £150 refund now I've changed suppliers.
I've no doubt that the new lot will panic when they look at my winter consumption and want to keep adjusting it so they'll get out of sync as wellNever under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -

Your estimated annual consumption is 1,002.00 kWh of gas a year.
I used to provide ScottishPower with meter reading every month and there billing system was great. I'm concerned that even with giving them readings, they might not update my bills...0 -
