Hi ss, sorry about the rubbish loan offer, but sort of relieved too.. Good luck with your charges claim and I will follow your snowballing progress.

That's the spirit! Get the snowball up and running instead and hit the debts one at a time! I kind of wish I'd found this site soon enough to have taken that route instead of the DMP route as my credit wouldn't be quite so trashed now (well maybe...!) You can do it

Thanks for all your replies yesterday, shame about the crummy loan offer, but onwards and upwards.
Been a quiet NSD here, just been sewing like mad trying to get enough stock to deliver to a wonderful local shop that has agreed to stock some of my stuff. Got to deliver it all on Monday and the clock is ticking. eeek.
I have no clue why my Smilies won't work anymore?. Does anyone know why?.
Shamefully noticed on Tuesday that my Ds had a hole in the sole of his school shoes. I managed to get a part worn pair off #bay, still look brilliant, but they were £12 inastead of £40+ but apparently "He doesn't LIKE them". Grrrrrrr. Will tackle that argument later when his friend has gone home.
Nothing else to report really. Hope everyone is doing well. xxx0 -
My smilies won't work either so I just copy and paste...:)Christmas 2020 £109

Thanks Puzzcat, can't express myself properly without the smilies :T. Yay figured it out. xx
Well, Ds had a massive tantrum this morning about wearing his new school shoes. Am I being mean making him wear shoes he doesn't like?? They are just regular black (Kickers! I may add), school shoes, but they are slip-on, which is different to the usual Velcro strap he wears. Thought they looked more grown up, but apparently he hates them. I hate being mean to my children, but they were a third of the price of shop shoes and I can't afford to pander to him not liking them.. Grrrr.
Got a friend over for coffee in a minute and then going to carry on working on items for the shop display.
Got to pay for two car taxes with this this weeks wages!! shocking. I must start putting a small amount away every week to cover this as its always painful.
Oil level has gone down dramatically with us all being home for two weeks over Christmas. I went round all the room thermostats yesterday when I realised hubby had set them all to be on at 21C . Turned them all down to 19C, and hope this slows the race of oil leaving the tank.
Will balance the spreadsheet when friend has gone, but should be a NSD today as going nowhere. Car is out of fuel but that is budgeted for.
Well the sun is shining and its Friday. Can't do much complaining. xx0 -
Hi hands up i have not read the full diary. Although i did notice you mentioned B@arclays and reserve payments. I used to have all my money in a account with them. I have switched to S@nt@nder 123 I have not been overdrawn as yet and nearly over a year. They have also paid me 140 for paying bills etc.
I used to get crippled with charges and it is surprising how much extra money it creates.
I will read through rest of your diary later will subscribe.:):)sealed pot challenge 099

Morning Steph, hope you finish the crafty bits in time for delivery. Have you looked into getting a new bank account yet so as to treat your current one as a debt?
As for car tax I take £25 out of my bank on payday and put it in a cash tin in an envelope marked "car tax don't touch"Perhaps after paying it this month you could do this each month? Divide whatever the bill is by 6 or 12 (depending on how long your new disc will run for) and put it away each month. It's a lot to find in one go
Sun is shining here tooI hope it lasts! x

I too have just added to my budget a £25 payment for car tax, it was something I just used to pay when due, but better to be prepared and save money - thank you for that!

Hi all,
Well Ds came home from school happy, claiming lots of his friends loved his shoes and wanted some themselves. Phew....dodged that bullet. Was nice to get a "Mummy told you so" quote in haha.
Postman has just been and I am very annoyed. I got a reminder last year to pay November & Decembers Council tax, which I paid and was told I just had Januarys to finish off the year.
I know Council Tax is supposed to be paid on the 1st of every month, but I had scheduled it to be paid WITHIN January and thought this would be ok.
well in the post today is a bloomin Summons for non-payment of Council Tax .
It can be paid straight away without it going to court but now got £48 added onto it for Summons costs.
Aaaaargggghhhhhhh Why are companies so inflexible.
I will get it paid, but so annoyed with them and myself for now having an extra £48 to pay. Teaches me I suppose.
I always read how inflexible Council tax was but didn't think it was this ridiculously mean.
Signing off to cool down for a while. xxxx0 -
Oh no
did you schedule the mid month payment with them? If so I would call them up and see if that £48 can be waivered. Sometimes one dept doesn't talk to the other if that's the case. If it's not pre-arranged I still think that's a lot of money to charge someone without a warning letter first
