Switch is taking its time

Good morning and Merry Christmas everyone.
I started a switch process late Oct 2013 to npower but as yet all I have received is an email from npower asking me to confirm my email address (twice they've sent the same email).
The switch process can take 6-8 weeks. I think we're nearing the 8 week window rather sharpish.
I contact npower a few weeks back and they wanted to do the switch myselfs but reading some of the FAQ on the Cheap Energy Club site they say this is a ploy.
My question is - how long do i sit and wait on this, as my old supplier will be upping their charges soon. And the fixed period I bought into the clock is ticking on it.
Who can I speak to to see if I can speed this switch process up. As it seems to be taking an eternity.
I'll appreciate any feedback.
Thanks,
Lawrence

How much debt on the account? Over £200 may result in a blocked switch, as the outgoing supplier will object.
Unsupported metering system (E10, Heatwise) for the tariff applied for?No free lunch, and no free laptop0
