Very - Not honouring deal :-(

Not sure if this is the right place to post... but...

On 16/11/13 I ordered a sony Experia z for £399. At the time, they had a banner advertising £50 cashback on phones up to £398 & £100 cashback on phones £399+ & my phone was one of the qualifying products for £100 which was the reason for purchasing it.

Phone came though. Started using it. Statement arrived... no mention of the cashback.

I contacted by phone & the guy I spoke to said cashback deals are honoured at the end of the buy now pay later period.

Not wanting to just take his word for it, as he sounded hesitant, I emailed Very.

The response I got astounded me... they have now denied there was a deal at that time. They claim there was a deal that had started on the 21/11/13 & was £50 cash back on items £349-£499 and £100 cash back on items £500 or more. I know this to be untrue as The banner was clear. The phone I had got had been reduced to less than £399 previously & I was going to purchase, but on the 16th, I noticed they had put the price up to £399 so I nearly didn't buy it. My DH then noticed the cashback offer, which was the same on isme & the other catalogues too. But as I had a Very account, I purchased there & then from them.

They are now refusing to honour this deal

Any advice greatly appreciated

  • Do you have evidence of the banner (such as a screenshot). If not then the WayBackMachine might have archived it.
  • Thank you. Unfortunately not. I've not heard of the way back machine. I shall google & give it a try.
  • The WayBackMachine is a project that attempts to archive the Internet. It takes snapshots of websites every now and then. Obviously its far from perfect, but worth a try.

Google may have a cached copy too.
  • Thank you!
Unfortunately they don't have that page archived.
Do you know how I'd search Google for a cached copy?
  • On the desktop site there is normally a link next to search results for cached copies of the page. You'd probably have to search for very and the tablet and see what comes up.

    It's a bit of a longshot though.
  • OMG! Thank you!!! I found it through the google search.

Have now emailed them a copy of the screen shots... even found the T&Cs

Let's see them wriggle out of this one :-D

Fantastic! Keep a copy of the page because it can disappear from Google at any time. And let us know how you get on.
