F**kin APCOA

Hi people,

Newbie though have read many posts. However, i feel that my issue doesn't seem to fit with any others as it is seems a wee bit odd. So here goes....

Yesterday, a letter was delivered to my house in the name of a woman who does not and never has lived at my address, though the address was correct. I myself was ready to do a 'return to sender' job on it, but it was opened out of curiosity by a member of my household. To my horror and confusion, it was a "Debt Collectors" letter, (in inverted commas as i know they are complete rubbish :) ), containing my own car details, a sum of £93 to be paid and information about the ticket.

I was horrified that my car details were in a letter named to someone else, but also confused that apparently the initial ticket was from JUNE of this year!. This is the first time i have had any contact about this "ticket", despite it being 6 months ago.

I am sure that the ticket does relate to me given that the place i supposedly got the "ticket" was the hospital that i was working at at the time of the ticket. However, the parking infringement is "parking without display valid proof of payment" which is rubbish given that my car at the time was covered by a permit for the car park in question.

I have sent off a complaint to the BPA and they have logged it, i have sent a "query" off to APCOA though i don't expect a response.
Any other advice for who to contact??

Thanks,

Rachieb

I agree, I would have ignored this as well if the name was completely wrong.

Never mind, your 'query' to APCOA should be treated like an appeal and if they 'reject' it then they have to give you a POPLA code. If you get that code, then read the sticky thread 'Newbies read this first!' and in particular the link 'How to win at POPLA' because it would be easy to beat at appeal if you use our forum appeal wording.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

  • Cheers spacey. that was helpful.
  • I would go as far as to say, that even if this was something like ukcps/parking eye and they had issued a court claim I would still have ignored it, since if court bailiffs ever came, that person doesn't live there and doesn't exist as far as your know!

Now that sounds a wee bit like a Scottish phrase. Do you live in Scotland and/or did the parking event occur in Scotland?

Never mind, just a long shot on my part. Would have been easier dealt with up there:(
