Hi alll, please bear with me I'm not very knowlewdgable about computers, so please be gentle....
My new laptop came with a 30 day free trial of Macafee Anti virus etc (as well as the usual windows AV , Defender etc). I used the scan today and guess what...it found various spyware crap etc so now I'm not very impressed with it!
I had AVG and S-cleaner and spybot S&D on my old laptop which I was happy with.
What I want to know is should I just go ahead and download AVG etc onto my new laptop and try and remove the McAfee or will it run OK with both? I've read though the threads on here but find them a bit confusing (and sometimes conflicting
) so would be grateful for any advice suitable for a novice like me...
Thanks in advance

It's McAfee AntiVirus, not anti-spyware. You don't seem to have taken issue with any of your other software.
No, you can't have two anivirus solutions running at the same time, so you'll have to stop one of them loading at StartUp.0 -
Do you mean spyware crap, or cookies? which scanner found what?Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0

OK so I think I panicked a bit...sorry
I just did a manual scan with the preloaded Macafee Security Centre (it says it has: Virus scan, personal firewall, spam killer, spyware protection etc)
What it found was lots of cookies from when I was browsing online.
What worried me was each time I check the protection status it says 'real time virus protection is disabled and not protecting your computer' but every time i click the 'enable' tab it automatically goes back to 'disabled'
But then the 'Home' screen says that the computer is proteced and no'action is required'
So I'm confused about what I should do for the best0 -
It could be conflicting with some or all of the other programs that you have enabled.0
