painting the inside of a microwave oven

have posted here as a start point as its sort of DIY related

googling suggests that it is possible to repaint the interior of a (kitchen) microwave oven using, as you'd expect, paint able to stand high temperatures and not give off fumes. However I can't find any listed products or sources other than from USA websites

Can anyone suggest a UK source of such paint please

i personally would do it , it would have to withstand high temperatures and not give off fumes , plus the surface would have to be spotless for it to stay on ,

    Is that a spelling mistake?

Ditch the microwave and buy a new one.

Fromn what I have read - its not hard to do.

And its not a stupid idea.

They are painted in the first place, you just need to clean off the inside, prime it correctly and use the correct paint.

There are paints suitable for use within a microwave oven, and it it works OK otherwise is is very wasteful to just throw it away when all it needs is a little TLC.

You need to be completely sure you have the correct paint and have left it long enough to dry correctly before use.

The walls of a microwave oven do not heat up much when in use, its not like the inside of an oven.

EDIT: Spray gloss enamel is adequate for this, leaving it to harden and not having any pinprick holes is important.

so apart from myttlad no one else has actually answered the question.
websites are 50/50 about whether it is a "stupid" idea but the fact remains that the cheapest replacement microwave I looked at today clearly stated it is a painted (NOT stove enamel) finish inside therefore repainting should be very possible as it is the same finish as a new one

I have considerable experience of painting metal surfaces but could not easily find an source of "appliance" paint outside of USA websites

so back to the original question - can anyone please suggest a UK source of suitable paint?

so your sole contribution to this thread is a throw away comment not supported by any evidence.

I shall ignore your unsubstantiated opinion. It is my opinion that, on the lack of evidence presented, you jump to stupid conclusions

    thanks
I note on ebay that "appliance" paint as sold by those sellers coming up in the search is in fact Humbrol/Hornby modellers paint so is a generic oil based enamel rather than a specific paint as implied by the item description.

I shall experiment with the stock of Humbrol paint I already have to hand ...
