Planning permission for glass balastrade

You might find that a combination of some metalwork or woodwork plus some glass inserts may act sympathetically, and act as the windbreak you are after
Local architects are well worth the consultation feesSo many glitches, so little time...0 -
Another reason we want glass is because it will not be too obtrusive (it is transparent!!) Our son is an architect so we can get more help there. He thinks the glass will look good - the garage has a modern up and over door, so that part of the property is not really in keeping with the rest of the house anyway.0

Don't laugh - but have you considered a "temporary" see through balustrade?
I've seen them on the continent (not sure they're glass though- probably acrylic) and they consist of thin metal removable posts with a run of about 2m of "glass" in between, designed as a see through windbreak.......just thinking you could have fun with the planners for years........!0 -
Actually a good idea - to make sure that the balustade does actually do the job at keeping off the wind!! Don't want to go to all that trouble and expense to find that it doesn't actually work effectively, in which case we may as well just get a rail put up to stop people falling off!!0
