how does Barclaycard BT work

I applied for a Barclaycard to do a couple of BT and received an email on Monday which said that the application was approved and the limit is XXXX. I gave the card number and the amount that I wanted to transfer in application. Will Braclaycard do the transfer automatically after the approval, or do I need to do it manually after I receive the card?

Hi.

I am in the EXACT same position you are. Applied for a card and as soon as I was accepted, I was able to log into my account and see my credit limit. During my application I did request a balance transfer and gave them the amount I wanted transferred and the number of my old card. On my online account, it shows X AMOUNT pending. I've read around on this site and on the Barclays site and it says it normally take a few days.

You don't have to do anything more, just leave it to Barclays. They'll send the money to your old card and pay the amount off. Check back in a few days and see if it's gone through.

I was accepted last Friday. If my B/T goes through anytime soon, I'll let you know.

I applied earlier and the application was referred. Last Friday, I received the email telling me the application was successful. But still no sign of BT yet.

That's...strange. When you log in to your account, does it say X amount pending? If it does, and the amount is the same as what you want transferred, it's all set up. If it doesn't say anything, you might need to contact them.

No, I was refered when I applied for the card, so I didn't get the chance to setup my online access. I received my card today and when I called Barclaycard to activate the card, I was told that the BT didn't go through and I would need to do it manually. So it seems that the BT you requested will not go through automatically if your application was not approved immediately.

Mine was approved immediately and I also got my card today. I haven't rang to activate it yet but when I do, I'll ask about my B/T.

Best thing to do would be to just ring them up. That way you know for sure, right? Tomorrow, I'll be asking them the same question and I'll report back here with the details.
