eBay shop holiday mode question

Just about to put my shop in holiday mode but have read this in the help section on eBay....

It says the following about Buy It Now listings that will be hidden from view:

Buyers who have already purchased items from these listings will still be able to view them, and buyers who have added your listing to their Watch list can still purchase them.

I have a particular listing that has had over 500 views and has about 50 watchers... Does this mean any of these watchers can still buy this item and if so is there a way to prevent ALL buy it now sales that I wouldn't necessarily be around to post?

    Not without ending your listing.

It's highly unlikely what you mention will happen though. I've got items with 200 watchers and none of them have ever suddenly had the urge to buy when I'm on holiday mode.
  • As Campdave says - not without ending your listing.

I emailed Ebay about this when I first opened a shop. The holiday mode setting was one thing that I wanted with a shop. I was a bit disappointed when I found out that watchers could still purchase even with the holiday mode turned on.

If I'm away for a couple of days I use the holiday setting. If I'm away for a couple of weeks I tend to end my listings as otherwise I'd be paranoid about someone purchasing something, it not turning up and my DSRs being trashed - it does however mean you lose the associated ebay visibility that you have built up on the items.

I wish they'd have a proper holiday mode option that means no one can buy your item as unfortunately not everyone reads the little message that ebay puts on stating the seller is away.

Thanks both.... Bit of a dilemma for me then LOL this particular listing is right up there at the top of the search results so I think I'll take the chance.

You could put a ridiculous price on it to prevent anyone buying...

Great minds think alike - just thought of that as soon as I'd pressed submit!

I wonder if you could block all countries so no one can buy, or all of them except some tiny island somewhere ?
