First Direct

I was attracted to First Direct by the £100 as touted by MSE, but after poking about on their website, after 6 months they could start charging £10 a month. Below is a paragraph from the First Direct website.
"Banking with first direct usually costs £10 a month, but you will not be charged this fee for the first six months from account opening, when you pay in at least £1,000 to your 1st Account each month, or maintain an average monthly 1st Account balance of £1,000, or you hold a selected first direct additional product. Take a look at our Interest rates and charges for more details of other additional products."
I might be avoiding this one!

Rather than avoid, put £1 in a savings account (other than the regular saver)
Talking of the regular saver, if you have some spare cash put £300 per month in @ 6%.
I have the current account just to use the regular saver.

So even though they've laid it out on a plate for you on how to avoid the charge you still chose not to follow their suggestion and simply "take a look"!Stewart500 wrote: »..."or you hold a selected first direct additional product. If you wish to reject the offer of a £100 joining bonus plus a 6% savings account for the sake of the cost of £1 to you (to open and fund an everyday saver account), then that's entirely your choice.
Other people however might be thinking you are nuts
